The Inland Empire is your ideal
destination, whether you're
seeking thrills, relaxation or re-
tail therapy. Young couples
searching for romance, experi-
enced travelers looking for
something new and families
with young children will find
there are memories to be
made an hour from L.A.
For the adventurous, there's
parasailing in Big Bear and sky-
diving in Perris. There are hot
air-balloon
rides
over
the
Temecula Valley. For children, Redlands, Chino and Riverside all
support Young Eagles Programs -- for free, anyone age 8 to 17
may sign-up for a lesson and pilot a flight.
For the playful, there are casinos in Temecula, Highland,
Cabazon and San Jacinto. These resorts feature concerts, spas and
dining. Relax at a Broadway-caliber musical at the California
Theatre
in San Bernardino or at Tibbies Center Stage Dinner
Theater
in Fontana. Catch a concert at the San Manuel
Amphitheatre
in Devore. Watch a race at the Auto Club Speedway
in Fontana, or get on the track yourself and take a racing lesson.
Feeling romantic? Stroll the vineyards in Temecula, Rancho
Cucamonga, Mira Loma or Ontario. The Inland Empire is a treasure
for outdoor enthusiasts. Hikers of all levels can explore nature in
the San Bernardino Mountains which include Big Bear, Crestline,
and Lake Arrowhead.
At Big Bear Lake, you can rent a boat and go fishing, or go
camping, hiking or horseback riding. Lake Gregory in Crestline
offers swimming, waterslides, year-round fishing, hiking and
paddle boats. You can waterski, fish or spot a bald eagle while
picnicking at Silverwood Lake.
Snow skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes in Running
Springs, Big Bear and Wrightwood.
We have the Fender Guitar Museum in Corona, the San
Bernardino County Museum in Redlands which rotates special in-
teractive exhibits that are not to be missed. Also, enjoy visiting the
Discovery Center and the Historical Museum while in Big Bear,
the Riverside International Auto Museum in Riverside and of
course, the historic Kimberly Crest Museum in Redlands is a must
see. There are two wonderful air museums Chino Planes of Fame
Air Museum
and the March Field Air Museum in Moreno Valley.
Animal lovers will enjoy the Moonridge Animal Park in Big
Bear, the only zoo dedicated to alpine habitat animals, and the
Wildhaven Ranch in Lake Arrowhead.
Spend an afternoon exploring Idyllwild, known internationally
for their art colony with over 100 artists on display.
For those who enjoy shopping, this part of California is a gold
mine. There are outlet centers in Lake Elsinore, Ontario, Cabazon
and Barstow. Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga has a
miniature train for kids to ride and `snow' bubbles in the winter. In
Lake Arrowhead, the Village has charming shops lakeside, along
with a variety of attractions for all ages. And during a break from
the shops near Riverside's Mission Inn, you can tour the grounds
and dine in one of their many charming restaurants.
